Stencils, Drawing, & Surface Workshop

Learn how to take drawings and found imagery to create stencils from paper and vinyl. Stencils will be made using scissors and paper as well as a Silhouette machine. I will also screen share during this workshop to show y’all how I clean up drawings and found imagery and place those within a program to make the Silhouette machine cut stencils and do it’s job! It isn’t a similar consistency of any other ceramic surface, such as glazes and slips-it’s sticky, runny (in the liquid stage), and harmful when proper safety precautions aren’t taken. Learn super simple tips and tricks to creating a beautifully constructed and functional soft slab built mugs! I demonstrate how to make slabs (without the use of a slab roller), compress, create templates to decide on form and scale, how to create a couple of different handle options, and more. This technique can then be used to create other functional objects, such as vases, teapots, planters, etc. using soft slabs.
